My Two Cents on Virtue Ethics

One can not underestimate the relevance of virtual ethics in a fast paced and global technology team for one of the largest telecommunication company (Verizon), competing in the emerging market. In an environment where teams are collaborating at the ground level of product development to delivery, service and maintenance from global location across different jurisdictions and cultures while also interacting with a broad category of clients (internal and external). Virtue Ethics is the approach to ethics, where focus is more on character of an individual than his/her action. In an environment as described above one of the qualities that are a required to be successful is being able to adapt and respect new ideas. Both are actually interrelated if you think deeply, as when we are respectful to others and pay attention to the approach they recommend we end up being more adaptive. In an ever changing economy and to keep pace with technological advancement, this virtue applies to every or

Kant’s theory

How does Kant's Moral Theory affect you as an individual worker as well as the greater workplace? Before getting into the affects, I would like to provide a concise description of Kant’s Moral Theory. Kant believed that our motives are in our control and we are responsible for our motives to do good or bad. He also objects to basing morality on the consequences of our action because people have intrinsic values and ought not to be used. Affects as an individual worker and on the greater workplace Due to the nature and scope of the theory I am unable to segregate the affect to an individual from the workplace. The affects can also be combined knowing topic of morality here goes further than relativism. I would like to make an argument to outline positive and negative affects this belief may present to both. Now, believing in Kant’s theory I am responsible to make sure that my actions have good intentions. According to Kant, if there is something we morally ought to do, we

Explain how egoism affects the workplace as well as your career. In general terms Egoism considers an act to be morally right if the act is in a person's self-interest. Each individual is supposed to act in ways that will lead to their own happiness or pleasure. Those actions are morally right that results in person’s happiness or pleasure and at the same time if it end into that person’s suffering, it will be morally wrong. According to Barbara Mackinnon “The theory of egoisms holds that people are basically self-centered of selfish.” As we all know, by workplace we mean a place where the work gets done by a group of individuals. Those individual are usually fulfilling own assigned tasks in return of money or other means of satisfaction. At the same time they are working as a member of team, towards achieving a common objective beyond themselves. Without the underlying idea of mutual achievement the team cannot be successful. Especially if it is a large organization, where invo

The relation between ethical theory and ethical reasons and between ethical theory and ethical reasoning. When we evaluate something as right or wrong and good or bad, we appeal to certain norms or reasons. Those reasons help justify the essential moral conclusion and represent an ethical reason. Now, in order to present them for justification we must reason them well. A well ethical reasoning constitutes of good arguments and is well structured based on a true premise. According to Barbara Mackinnon, ethical theory is the systematic exposition of particular view about the nature and basis of the good or right. Ethical theories can be different categories depending on what they analyze. Some might judge in terms of motive, some in terms of the character or nature of act while others in terms of the consequences. Irrespective of the category of these theories, they are based on certain ethical reason which can be reasonably and systematically argued through ethical reasoning. •What is
